Newborn Must Haves

Hi Sweatspace Family! I am J, Mike's wife/partner of 12 years - I’m starting J’s Corner which will be an ongoing series through our life together and journey with our kids! As most of you know Mike and I have expanded our family with the arrival of Hayden and Marlow is still keeping us on our toes!

Expanding your family is amazing, but jumping back in the newborn phase has given us all kinds of feels! It truly is a game of survival and every one has their own way of making it work, that's the beauty of it! Not everything works for everyone. That being said, I think its super positive to share what's working to see if it can offer any help and/or comfort for other parents out there. Here's what's worked for Mike and I, but please know parenting is so personal so make sure you do what you feel is right for you and your family. However, I hope these tips can be helpful in your journey!

Mike and J's Newborn Must Haves:

Mike and I both love the newborn phase! The newborn smell, cuddles, and watching our babies grow! Here are the Top 5 newborn items we can't live without:

  • The Boppy - Both our babies lived on the Boppy the first 3 months. Baby sleeps a majority of the time and this can transport anywhere. It has been super helpful with baby #2 while we keep Marlow on her routine, we place Hayden on the Boppy and he can join in on story time, bed time routine, etc.

  • Ollie Swaddle - BEST. SWADDLE. EVER.  It's completely stress free and easy to manage especially during night feedings in newborn stage!

  • Baby Bjorn Bouncer - Super high quality, machine washable and can also turn into a chair that grows with your baby.

  • Muslin Cloth Burp Cloths - Babies can be a mess from spitting. up to other oops moments, these are amazing! Super soft, durable and easy to clean.

  • Baby Shusher - Can. Not. Live. Without. It. Great way to soothe a fussy baby.

  • Hatch Sound Machine: We have one for each baby! They are magical for helping soothe baby to sleep and have a red light to help mimic inside the womb. MUST HAVE!

  • Sleeper Gowns - As a new parent you are already exhausted no one wants to deal with snapping up baby onesies at night during a changing. Sleeper gowns are an amazing way for easy access to change diapers late at night and super cozy for baby!

  • Baby Calming Tablets - This a great homeopathic cure for gas/colic/reflux. Our babies were both fussy due to gas. This was an amazing cure and works so quickly!

Hope these items help you in your newborn journey as much as they’ve helped us with Marlow and now Hayden!

xoxo,

J
