Accomplish Your 2016 Resolutions!
The new year brings a fresh start, a clean slate and an opportunity to better yourself. Make 2016 the year that you out S.M.A.R.T. your resolutions and accomplish them by creating short-term, specific goals.
This week, take the time to plan out your goals for the year by using the S.M.A.R.T. Goal Template below. I recommend writing down each goal and prioritizing your: personal, financial and career goals. When you get your plan in place, put your goals in a place that will be easily accessible. Also, share them with your family and friends, this way you will have someone hold you accountable to accomplish your goals.
Specific - What’s the goal?
Example: Instead of setting the goal of going to the gym this year, be specific by setting the goal of working out for an hour every Monday, Wednesday, Friday for the month of January.
Measurable - It should be quantifiable: How to know when its accomplished?
Example: By the end of the month of January, did you work out every Monday, Wednesday, Friday for an hour?
Attainable - How realistic is the goal?
Example: If there are constraints that significantly limit your opportunity to make it to the gym, what time in the day will give you highest probability to make it to the gym. Morning, Afternoon or Evening?
Results-Based - What are you trying to achieve?
Example: Increase energy levels, lower blood pressure by 10 points, lose one belt size.
Time-Bound - Goals must have a specific starting and ending point.
Example: January 1st-January 31st.
